Blood of an Innocent
![]() The night dawned crisp and clear that fateful eve,
It still Retained a certain warmth from the sunny day.
A gentle breeze tore playfully at waxy green leafs and deep brown limbs.
Pale moon light fell in cloudless patches on all below it.
From a long way down the dusty path of twists and turns,
Music and laughter could be heard ringing in the chilly air.
The sturdy tavern stood on hillock as a beacon in the night to weary travelers.
Light from the clear windows flickered and danced on the dewy lawn invitingly.
The tavern door opened with a creak of well worn hinges.
All around the homey interior where carefree patrons,
Who where drinking and chattering with their neighbors.
It was the perfect spot to rest road weary feet that night.
A slip of a girl padded into the noisy confines of the tavern,
Nary a hesitation was given as she made way across the floor.
Hearth side chair was sought and claimed for pert little rear,
And down she did settle into it's fire warmed confines ignored for night through.
It was a shock to all when innocence was abused in their happy midst that night.
But you see, she hadn't been as ignored as she had thought when she sat in that chair.
A shadow lurking male had been waiting and watching for her to enter this night.
After being quite sure none approached his prey he made his move to snare her.
A cold hand fell to grip upon her narrow white shoulder harshly.
What a shock to the poor dear to be so roughly jerked from chair's comfort.
Bewildered aqua twins sought the gaze of her captor questioningly,
And merciless steel orbs glared down into her maliciously.
Useless was it to fight this towering male of vicious intent,
Yet still she fought and struggled in his iron hard grasp.
Club like hand met with snowy cheek in a teeth rattling back hand.
Stars filled the girls vision as she gave a plaintive cry.
The merry voices around her rose in volume
Ignore the cries and pleas they thought,
Ignore what was happening and it'll go away.
So a blind eye was turned to the grisly scene.
Again, and again did the blows rain down upon the frail girl.
Cry after pain filled cry echoed through the heavy air.
Blood spilled 'pon the wooden floor to mingle with bitter tears.
Snowy white flesh grew bruised and broken beneath the assault.
Tattered clothing was torn from her battered frame,
Only to be fed to the greedy fires licking flames.
Body roughly left that floor to be slammed against one rough wall.
It took but moments for innocence to be violated and sundered.
Not a glance was given to the horror across the tavern,
Not a thought even given to the poor innocent abused in such a way.
He left her there in a bloody heap at the base of that rough wall.
He left stated after taking his wrath and pleasure out on her.
Hours ticked by that she laid in that chilling pool of her own blood.
Hours did the white hot pain drive her into a semiconscious state,
So many hours where the cheerful patrons ignored the girl.
And finally hours until she was too conscious to lay there any longer.
She fought against the crippling pain to regain her feet without anyone's help.
None of her "friends" came to her aid as she forced herself to take those first steps.
Bones ground against there ragged counterparts with breath taking effects,
Agonizing steps took her forward past the happy and relieved crowd.
Bloody, delicate hand finally did grip door's wooden jam tightly,
As ragged breaths screamed painfully through bloody lips and nose.
Across the thresh-hold she stumbled to enter the chilled night.
Moons light was waning and it's pale beams overcome by shadows.
Such a bitter night this turned out to be for the girl.
Pain wracked frame forced itself to continue along the twisted path,
Cold finger like branches fought to grab and hold the girl back.
Despite all this she continued step after painful step.
A vow was spoken to the grayish pink dawn horizon as she stumbled yet again,
Such a vow to never depend on another to protect her worthless life.
A vow which spoke of a hurt far greater then her delicate body was bearing.
And finally a vow which brought hot, salty tears to spill down bruised cheeks.
A final tear is shed for the friendship so brutally violated and trust so carelessly broken.
She should have known this would have happened when she finally trusted someone again.
Friends come and go in ones life with lines of broken promises and hateful, uncaring deeds.
Only the hurt remains when they've gone adding another layer of protection to her broken heart.
Steps falter and the girl falls under the weight of it all.
Gray clouded darkness rushes in to overcome the fragile predawn light.
Her battered body screams it's protest and refuses to rise this time.
Icy rain falls and washes the blood away as she fights to rise one more.
